In Norway, most American TV shows are eventually translated into Norwegian and broadcasted. The episodes just might be a few years old, though. Here's the thing I've found about translating: the phase "Lost in the translation" is completely legitimate. I know a great Norwegian joke about a chicken, a goat, and an elderly farm woman with dementia for instance, but it isn't funny in English.
When the TV show Sex In The City started broadcasting in Norway, we just didn't get it. You can go to any small town in Norway and find beautiful, tall, slim, blonde Norwegian women that are 10 times sexier than the actresses in SITC. We had a good laugh at you Americans for thinking this was a good show, like Baywatch, starring Norwegian/American Pamela Anderson (Anderson is like "Smith" in Norway you know). When I saw a few episodes of the show in English, I expected it to be better, thinking it's allure had gotten "Lost in the translation", but no, it pretty much stunk in English, also.
Now the movie version has come out, and...I still don't get it. I'm not going to go watch it. The reviews I've read make it sound like the same as the TV show. Can someone explain this to me?

I'm afraid you have the wrong kind of genitalia to be enjoying Sex and the City, Lars. Just try to ignore it instead.
I once went out on a date with a really hot girl and she invited me up to her room afterwards. Thinking I was well in there I agreed, and was shown an hour of Sex and the City before I made my excuses, left, and tearfully bashed one out in the shower. I hate the show for this reason.
